This article is part of the activities of the Integrated Sustainability project (European Social Fund program) focused on the analysis between the human and nature relationship, and the management of the commons, i.e. those goods shared by the entire community, which often depend on key services, knowledge and management. An aim of the project was the use of social-science approach to collect information concerning the relationship between small-scale organic farmers and conventional farmers to study a program to create some ecological processes that contribute to the maintenance of ecosystem services. The project has carried out an interdisciplinary activity of documentation and the anthropological approach has been done through video interviews, involving both groups. The article seek to explore the typical elements of socio-ecological systems by relating them to a social analysis that considers the relational aspects, in a context of integrated sustainability; on the other hand, to provide an initial assessment of the real potential of the small-scale organic farming in terms of social innovation and of conservation of the natural capital, which is one of the most threatened elements at regional, national and international level.
