The article examines a typical aspect of Seneca’s tragedies, the self-analysis speeches of the characters as they describe their inner conflict between opposing passions, and it investigates the linguistic, stylistic and rhetorical choices Seneca makes in these descriptions to give them a visual immediacy, according to the rhetorical principle of evidentia/ἐνάργεια.
