The European Green Deal ecological package favors the upward trend for installing new renewable energy sources (RES) and achieving climate neutrality. In this sense, new RESs are installed and proposed. In this study, a small system installed at a university campus that consists of renewable energy sources (rooftop photovoltaic and wind turbine located within the campus), a hydrogen generator, a fuel cell and a methanizer are analyzed in order to obtain a circular economy. The hydrogen generator is producing hydrogen that can be stored in tanks and used by the fuel cell to supply the demand. The methanizer uses the hydrogen produced by the hydrogen generator and the carbon dioxide from the exhaust of the diesel engine and is producing methane. The upscale of the existing system is also analyzed.
