This research aims to identify the potential role of key enabling technologies (KETs) in manufacturing relocation decisions, as technological advancements have been recognized as one of the motivations for reshoring decisions. The role of technology is very prominent in manufacturing relocation literature and needs further discussion regarding how and why these technologies are shaping location decisions. This study highlights the role of KETs in manufacturing relocation decisions, i.e., reshoring, nearshoring and backshoring.
