Seventeenth-century Italian literature and authorial philology - This essay introduces, with an overview of studies on authorial philology applied to Seventeenth-century Italian literature, the three essays published in this same issue on Marino, Stigliani and Tesauro respectively, with a view to a collective volume on the main cases of authorial variants in the Seventeenth century. After a survey of the state of studies, three particularly significant cases are indicated, those of Maffeo Barberini, Francesco Bracciolini and Ridolfo Campeggi.
