Anarchy is the most radical form of critique of power. This article compares Michel Foucault’s and Giorgio Agamben’s conceptions of anarchy, with the aim of tracing the different political ontologies that underpin them. I will argue that Foucauldian political ontology is similar to institutionalism, while Agamben’s is avowedly destituent. Finally, I will show the aporias inherent in Agamben’s proposal.

Abstract
Anarchy is the most radical form of critique of power. This article compares Michel Foucault’s and Giorgio Agamben’s conceptions of anarchy, with the aim of tracing the different political ontologies that underpin them. I will argue that Foucauldian political ontology is similar to institutionalism, while Agamben’s is avowedly destituent. Finally, I will show the aporias inherent in Agamben’s proposal.File allegato/i alla scheda:
