Transhumance, often considered a mere marginal declination of Lombard cattle breeding, has represented for our region one of the most articulated and active territorial processes in the construction of the landscape, both upstream and downstream. Through the regulatory apparatus that has accompanied it, transhumance has contributed in no small part to that regional “civilization” which, as Carlo Cattaneo well pointed out, is never a gift of nature, but the result of the commitment and intelligence of its its inhabitants. What is most important to us is that the reflections proposed in the present volume can contribute to addressing mountain issues in the most appropriate way possible to the correct culture of places. Only in this way can we activate new processes that know how to regenerate those high profiles of urbanity and economic and cultural success that the geo-historical gaze delivers to us and from which we cannot disregard, if we do not want the mountains to be reduced to a mere amusement park of the piedmont city. The reconstruction of a polycentric and networked regional territory also passes through such qualifying objectives, and the outcomes of this publication are an effective contribution to it.

Abstract
The reconstruction of a polycentric and networked regional territory also passes through such qualifying objectives, and the outcomes of this publication are an effective contribution to it.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
