Decarbonisation is a crucial imperative in the global effort to mitigate climate change and pro-mote sustainable development. To achieve these ambitious goals, a profound transformation of the building sector is needed, requiring a systematic renovation of the existing building stock, which is characterised by both poor energy efficiency and poor structural performance. In recent years, integrated and sustainable renovation solutions based on the principles of life cycle think-ing have been proposed. This study aims to investigate the suitability of cold-formed steel panels with burring holes as earthquake resistant elements in integrated interventions. First, a numerical study was carried out to reproduce the experimental behaviour of the panel through an FE model. Then, a simplified procedure was proposed to design a retrofit system with such panels. Finally, the validation of the work was carried out using a case study building. The results show the suita-bility of the numerical model and the effectiveness of the panels as a retrofit system.

Abstract
The results show the suita-bility of the numerical model and the effectiveness of the panels as a retrofit system.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
