Abstract

This paper, through a rereading of the process of constitution and of the current development policies of the Cité de la Architecture and du Patrimoine in Paris—a museum founded on the use of maquettes, life-size plaster copies and casts of historic buildings and monuments—aims to reason on the role of both the replica and the games characterized by sharing, dialogue, and the use of simple tools. It intends to discuss how such an approach can benefit from digital innovation for the definition of pedagogical paths dedicated, in particular, to the youngest. In fact, new technologies have increased the importance of the learning environment as a ‘third educator’, today no longer only physical but also virtual. A new dimension of education that must not replace traditional teaching tools but supplement them.
