Abstract

The essay analyzes two passages of Robert Wace's Roman de Rou in which episodes of revenantism and relationships with invisible creatures are described. Following a philological-comparative approach, I tried to identify the cultural and literary models (Norse, insular, continental, pagan and Christian) that could have contributed to defining the demonic imagery expressed by Wace in his work.
