Greece, admired and idealized by the Enlightenment, contributed to the creation of the landscape garden concept that became prominent in France from 1760 onwards. This contribution studies the imaginary of the Greek garden by exploring various textual genres (novel, poetry, travel accounts) and tracing a path that connects French literature from the 17th century to the twilight of the Enlightenment.

Abstract
Greece, admired and idealized by the Enlightenment, contributed to the creation of the landscape garden concept that became prominent in France from 1760 onwards. This contribution studies the imaginary of the Greek garden by exploring various textual genres (novel, poetry, travel accounts) and tracing a path that connects French literature from the 17th century to the twilight of the Enlightenment.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
