Un caveat per apprendisti stregoni bibliometrici: ancora a proposito di bibliometria, scienze umane e procedure di valutazione in Italia

In the following pages, we attempt a preliminary analysis of the new bibliometrical project for the social and human sciences which will be launched on January the 20th by the Italian National Agency for the evaluation of higher education and research. Although evaluation systems that are not based on peer review only are recommended for scientific fields such as these, however the project, at a first glance, has a number of flaws and could therefore adversely affect the development of Italian research in the SSH. Further reflection and discussion is required: citation analysis cannot be the only bibliometric tool available for the evaluation of SSH. More caution, more awareness of the international debate and, ultimately, the development of more sophisticated indicators are necessary.
