To address the urgent need for a more sustainable building stock, innovative retrofit solutions and construction tech- niques for reinforced concrete buildings have been investigated in recent years. Retrofit solutions should be designed to address any deficiencies in the existing building while ensuring sustainability, safety, and resilience, and overcoming key barriers to renovation, such as occupant relocation. Innovative construction techniques for new buildings must be designed with the entire life cycle of the structure in mind. For example, it is necessary to consider the location of damage in the event of an earthquake to reduce repair times and costs. In this context, the effectiveness of a re-centering RC wall system with double rocking interface as an earthquake resistant system has been studied for both new buildings and retrofitting of existing buildings. In particular, the results of parametric analyses are presented to evaluate the influence of the main design parameters.
