This paper analyses the impact of recent rulings by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) on the recognition and circulation of family statuses within the EU. Focusing on the landmark cases of Coman and V.M.A., the paper examines the challenges and limitations faced by same-sex couples and their children in exercising their right to free movement within the Union. The analysis highlights the complex interplay between EU law and national legislation on family matters, particularly in areas such as marriage, registered partnerships, and parentage. The paper also explores the potential implications of these rulings for the future development of EU citizenship and the recognition of diverse family forms across Member States.
