Inclusive language emerges as a tool of social struggle that vindicates the visibility in the discourse of women and people who do not identify with the cisgender system. Thus, new spellings emerge that are intended to be imposed bottom-up as alternatives to the generic use of the masculine. However, inclusive marks such as @ and e are not exempt from effects on information processing, as demonstrated in the present experimental eyetracking study conducted with 88 learners of Spanish as a foreign language.

Abstract
Inclusive language emerges as a tool of social struggle that vindicates the visibility in the discourse of women and people who do not identify with the cisgender system. Thus, new spellings emerge that are intended to be imposed bottom-up as alternatives to the generic use of the masculine. However, inclusive marks such as @ and e are not exempt from effects on information processing, as demonstrated in the present experimental eyetracking study conducted with 88 learners of Spanish as a foreign language.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
