The āyurvedic medical treatise known as Jīvakapustaka is preserved in an incomplete tenth-century manuscript from Dunhuang (Northwestern China) that alternates Sanskrit verse and Late Khotanese prose. The article provides a new edition, translation, commentary, glossary, and Sanskrit-Khotanese index of the Khotanese amplified version of the Lohaliṅgādighr̥ta, a prescription for a medicated ghee against boils etc. (Jīvakapustaka 30). This is of help in interpreting the corresponding concise and corrupt accompanying Sanskrit text and in reconstructing the presumed Classical Sanskrit original text.

Abstract
The āyurvedic medical treatise known as Jīvakapustaka is preserved in an incomplete tenth-century manuscript from Dunhuang (Northwestern China) that alternates Sanskrit verse and Late Khotanese prose. The article provides a new edition, translation, commentary, glossary, and Sanskrit-Khotanese index of the Khotanese amplified version of the Lohaliṅgādighr̥ta, a prescription for a medicated ghee against boils etc. (Jīvakapustaka 30). This is of help in interpreting the corresponding concise and corrupt accompanying Sanskrit text and in reconstructing the presumed Classical Sanskrit original text.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
