Scientific and technological advancements in reproduction can significantly affect the procreative process, prompting a reevaluation of moral principles and concepts in this field. A pivotal example is the concept of prenatal harm. Although recent debates have primarily discussed the emergence of a novel type of prenatal harm in light of the availability of reproductive genome editing, this article proposes a new kind that has so far been overlooked: temporal prenatal harm. This concept considers the choice of the timing of procreation as a factor capable of causing harm to the future individual, and it can have implications regarding the moral duties of parents toward offspring in the procreative context.

Abstract
Scientific and technological advancements in reproduction can significantly affect the procreative process, prompting a reevaluation of moral principles and concepts in this field. A pivotal example is the concept of prenatal harm. Although recent debates have primarily discussed the emergence of a novel type of prenatal harm in light of the availability of reproductive genome editing, this article proposes a new kind that has so far been overlooked: temporal prenatal harm. This concept considers the choice of the timing of procreation as a factor capable of causing harm to the future individual, and it can have implications regarding the moral duties of parents toward offspring in the procreative context.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
