This paper describes the argumentative patterns frequently used today in the business field, struck by the financial crisis. Namely, the tools of the argumentation theory, from a cognitive perspective as well, are applied to an e-mail message which the president of Iberia sent to the company’s clients. This message is a clear example of discourse manipulation, designed to eschew responsibility and shift the burden of the crisis onto workers and clients.
