Uncovering different kinds of concepts across neurodegenerative diseases

In recent years, abstract knowledge has gained support for its organization into different types of concepts [1]. Neurodegenerative diseases involving different neural substrates may offer noteworthy insights, possibly showing selective impairments of specific kinds of concepts. Here, we used a priming paradigm to explore different concrete and abstract concepts in patients affected by Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA), Cortico-Basal Degeneration Syndrome (CBS), semantic variant of Primary Progressive Aphasia (svPPA), and behavioural variant of Fronto-Temporal Dementia (bvFTD).
