Poesia da guardare. Considerazioni sulla Conceptual Writing

The article deals with a number of specific aesthetic aspects referring to contemporary Conceptual Writing, taken as an example to show the effects of media on literature. I consider in particular three features shared by many writers belonging to that field of poetic experimentalism: the relationship between the act of writing and a strong awareness of the material surfaces employed; the practices of texts’ appropriation; and the interaction between visual and textual materials. All these elements lead to new ways of reading and writing poetry, which are also new ways of looking at – and “treating” – texts, words, books and language in general as materials
