The detection of faults in closed-loop controlled motors has become a critical area of research due to the increasing demand for precise speed regulation in industrial applications. Electrical motors are susceptible to various types of fault that can lead to reduced efficiency, increased maintenance costs, and potential system failures. Ensuring reliable fault detection in these systems is essential to maintain performance and minimize downtime. Although traditional diagnostic techniques, such as Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA), have proven effective in open-loop systems, their performance may deteriorate in closed-loop environments. Feedback mechanisms in closed-loop control alter the spectral characteristics of motor signals, obscuring fault-related harmonics and making fault identification more challenging. The purpose of this article is to present a comprehensive review of diagnostic techniques for motors operating under closed-loop control.
