"France in India during the wars of the American Revolution. Some considerations on the Anglo-French-Indian conflict in Deccan (1782-1783)". This article examines the pivotal question of the continuity of French policy in India, a major theatre of the Anglo-French global rivalry throughout the 18th century. In this period, the relations between French, British and Indians evolve towards an increasing European interference in the internal affairs of the Indian States: in particular, the Anglo-French rivalry during Seven Years' War is call “struggle for India”. According to the Treaty of Paris (1763), the French were restricted to their coastal settlements by their British rivals, and compelled to dismantle all the defensive works. However, the French government don’t forget the economical relevance of the Indian settlements; and it don’t forget the role those colonies has in the world struggle with their British enemies. For the French élites, the American Revolution is a new opportunity to restart the war in India: a real world-war, fought also in Deccan through the help of Indian allies.
