This qualitative exploratory study investigates the strategies employed by EuropeanParliament interpreters when translating particularly challenging plenary speech segments from German into Italian. The focus is on syntactically marked constructions and ideologically loaded vocabulary. Adopting a multilevel approach (syntax, lexis, prosody-pragmatics), the analysis reveals a complex reality in which certain rhetorical and pragmatic features of the source texts are either neutralized or preserved. Moreover, the findings underscore the importance to delve into the prosodic-pragmatic interface of simultaneous interpretation.

Abstract
This qualitative exploratory study investigates the strategies employed by EuropeanParliament interpreters when translating particularly challenging plenary speech segments from German into Italian. The focus is on syntactically marked constructions and ideologically loaded vocabulary. Adopting a multilevel approach (syntax, lexis, prosody-pragmatics), the analysis reveals a complex reality in which certain rhetorical and pragmatic features of the source texts are either neutralized or preserved. Moreover, the findings underscore the importance to delve into the prosodic-pragmatic interface of simultaneous interpretation.| File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
