This article investigates small local museums in the Bergamo valleys, focusing on their role in preserving cultural heritage and fostering community engagement. It analyzes the challenges these museums face, including limited resources, lack of official recognition, and difficulties in creating networks and collaborations. The text emphasizes the potential of these institutions to generate interconnected territorial narratives, linking objects, collections, and local histories in meaningful ways. By examining the emergence of small museums as social and educational spaces, the article highlights their capacity to support cultural continuity, intergenerational learning, and territorial identity, while also promoting inclusivity and dialogue within and beyond local communities. Practical examples from the region illustrate how these museums operate as “living” nodes of cultural memory and as catalysts for collaborative, experiential approaches to heritage.
