Sustainable entrepreneurial finance: The role of digital technologies

Sustainability concerns and digital technologies are becoming increasingly pervasive in the finance industry. This manuscript examines the connection between sustainable and digital finance, focusing on the role of the growing fintech-based forms of financing in promoting sustainability integration in entrepreneurial finance. We discuss the literature’s main findings and identify the primary challenges and opportunities that the interplay between sustainable and digital finance poses for society. We investigate equity crowdfunding as a valuable example of integration between sustainable and digital finance and document that an increasing number of equity crowdfunding platforms engage with sustainability issues, thereby serving as critical actors in sustainable finance. Based on these findings, we propose avenues for future research.
