Abstract

How can we go back to Foucault to understand contemporary Maghreb and Subaharian societies? Starting by the concept of obedience and the exercise of the power in the daily practices, some anthropologists, political scientists and historians move among Foucault's works and they propose very inspiring researches to read some contemporary societies in the southern shore of the Mediterranean. The case studies of Morocco and Tunisia are especially taken into consideration and we come to understand how, from time to time, we can find traces of Foucault's approaches in the way of practicing social sciences in the Maghreb.
