According to Alasdair MacIntyre, moral crises are always epistemological crises. This is the consequence of the dramatic tension between theory and praxis typical of human lives. To fol-low the example of what MacIntyre does in the last chapter of Ethics in the Conflicts of Mo-dernity, in this paper I tell the story of the anti-nazi catholic Austrian farmer Franz Jägerstätter to present the peculiar relation between theory and praxis in the case of a man who chose the ultimate sacrifice in the name of truth. Even if it is impossible to generalise the beliefs and the precepts that guided Jägerstätter, it is possible to corroborate them for their consistency in edge cases like that.

Abstract
According to Alasdair MacIntyre, moral crises are always epistemological crises. This is the consequence of the dramatic tension between theory and praxis typical of human lives. To fol-low the example of what MacIntyre does in the last chapter of Ethics in the Conflicts of Mo-dernity, in this paper I tell the story of the anti-nazi catholic Austrian farmer Franz Jägerstätter to present the peculiar relation between theory and praxis in the case of a man who chose the ultimate sacrifice in the name of truth. Even if it is impossible to generalise the beliefs and the precepts that guided Jägerstätter, it is possible to corroborate them for their consistency in edge cases like that.| File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
