The distinctive trait of this study on corporate entrepreneurship in family business resides in the focus on the temporal dimension. The three circle model of family business is affected by temporal dynamics, so that corporate entrepreneurship may be function of the development, and not just the interaction, of the dimensions that characterize a family firm, namely family, ownership and business. Thus relying on the concept of developmental dimensions (Gersick et al., 1997), this study offers two contributions: first, it discusses when and how family firms exhibit corporate entrepreneurship initiatives, by reviewing the related literature in the family business stream; second, it provides a set of future research directions pertaining the different dimensions of the corporate entrepreneurship process as suggested by Kuratko (2010).
