L’IA generativa nel nostro ambiente pratico. Per un’ecologia della mente oltre la relazione speculare

This essay examines the spread of generative AI as a transformation of our practical environment rather than as the mere introduction of a new tool. It argues that the central question should not be whether machines can think, as in the Turing tradition, because that framing traps reflection in a specular and competitive relation between humans and AI. Instead, the essay proposes an ecological perspective on mind, inspired by Bateson and Stiegler, asking how generative AI reshapes the conditions through which human intelligence, responsibility, and spiritual activities are cultivated. The key issue is therefore not machine intelligence itself, but the kind of practical, symbolic, and social environment we want to inhabit and preserve.
