This chapter provides an overview of the use of accelerometery to assess physical activity with a specific focus on working with children and young people. The chapter introduces how accelerometery has been used with pediatric populations alongside an overview of the technical decisions that researchers need to consider when wanting to capture physical activity and movement data with children and young people. Case study information is provided showcasing how accelerometer calibration and validation might be best performed when working with children, followed by guidance and strategies to maximise the data collection process when using accelerometery with children.

Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the use of accelerometery to assess physical activity with a specific focus on working with children and young people. The chapter introduces how accelerometery has been used with pediatric populations alongside an overview of the technical decisions that researchers need to consider when wanting to capture physical activity and movement data with children and young people. Case study information is provided showcasing how accelerometer calibration and validation might be best performed when working with children, followed by guidance and strategies to maximise the data collection process when using accelerometery with children.Pubblicazioni consigliate
