This work aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a 24 GHz Doppler radar network distributed along three orthogonal axes for three-dimensional (3D) kinematic analysis of human gait. Using micro-Doppler signature characterization, the system captures the antero-posterior, medio-lateral, and cranio-caudal velocity components of a participant walking on a treadmill. The primary objective is to investigate the physical correspondence between radar-backscattered energy and actual body kinematics. To this end, a detailed phenomenological analysis is performed, comparing experimental radar spectrograms with data from a stereophotogrammetric system serving as ground truth for system validation.

Abstract
This work aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a 24 GHz Doppler radar network distributed along three orthogonal axes for three-dimensional (3D) kinematic analysis of human gait. Using micro-Doppler signature characterization, the system captures the antero-posterior, medio-lateral, and cranio-caudal velocity components of a participant walking on a treadmill. The primary objective is to investigate the physical correspondence between radar-backscattered energy and actual body kinematics. To this end, a detailed phenomenological analysis is performed, comparing experimental radar spectrograms with data from a stereophotogrammetric system serving as ground truth for system validation.| File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
