À partir de correspondances, mémoires et gazettes, Chantal Thomas déplace le regard de l’histoire diplomatique vers les expériences individuelles. De l’archive au roman, puis du roman au cinéma, se déploie une chaîne de réécritures dont l’adaptation de Marc Dugain constitue un nouveau prolongement.
