Optimising Memory Through Virtual Reality: A Pilot Study Focused on Associative and Relational Memory

Associative and relational learning is crucial for episodic memory formation. However, training these memory constructs in a virtual reality (VR) context are understudied. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a VR-based training intervention targeting associative and relational memory and its effect on a standardised measure of memory. Five participants completed a two-session VR training (four repeated trials per session) with pre- and post-VR training assessment using the Auditory Verbal Learning Test (AVLT). Results showed progressive improvement in performance across trials, and post-VR training AVLT score increased, indicating that the VR program effectively optimised memory functioning.
