Product-Service Systems (PSSs) and Digital Servitization are increasingly recognized as key enablers for sustainable and data-driven industrial transformation. However, the rapid evolution of digital technologies, circular economy principles, and service ecosystems is reshaping the PSS research landscape, calling for updated and integrated research frameworks. This paper proposes a Research Framework and Agenda developed within the IFIP WG5.7 Special Interest Group (SIG) on Service Systems Design, Engineering and Management (SSDE&M). The Research Framework and Agenda are grounded in a two-step methodology combining an online brainstorming workshop and a structured survey involving the SIG members. The results identify and structure current research priorities across five core research areas, while also revealing emerging research themes related to ecosystem integration, data-driven value creation, and lifecycle management. Building on these insights, the proposed Research Framework and Agenda organise PSS research into three interconnected levels: (i) Design and Methods, (ii) Business and Organizational Transformation, and (iii) Ecosystem and Governance Context, complemented by four cross-cutting analytical dimensions: (i) Circular Economy and Rebound Effects, (ii) Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence, (iii) Service Ecosystems and Governance, and (iv) Responsible and Socially Sustainable Service Systems. The proposed Research Framework and Agenda contribute to consolidating fragmented research streams and provide a structured basis for future research work within the IFIP WG5.7 SSDE&M SIG and broader PSS research community, supporting both academic research and industrial practice.

Abstract
The proposed Research Framework and Agenda contribute to consolidating fragmented research streams and provide a structured basis for future research work within the IFIP WG5.7 SSDE&M SIG and broader PSS research community, supporting both academic research and industrial practice.| File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
