The body has been relegated as a merchandise to be “purchased” in gyms, in beauty and health treatments. The end of the phase of social control organized through defined spaces (schools, barracks, offices, prisons, gyms…) results in a stronger transition to self-containment. Abstract

Han argues that the “new” power of the (digital)neo-liberalism rejected the body as the object of industrial production and social control. The body has been relegated as a merchandise to be “purchased” in gyms, in beauty and health treatments. The end of the phase of social control organized through defined spaces (schools, barracks, offices, prisons, gyms…) results in a stronger transition to self-containment. Bodies are no longer the objects of control because we accept obedience to the power simply clicking “like” (a quasi-bodyless action) without being physically constrained. Is the body becoming obsolete in education? Even those who are facing this “dilemma” (Panciroli, Rivoltella) hesitate to explore the theme of the, already marginalized, body. The “absent presence” of the pandemic will permanently characterize the education? A corporeal, human, analogical turn (Sheets-Johnstone) in education is necessary valorizing adults’ and pupils’ bodily experiences, limits, and errors.
