The textile industry plays a critical role in the transition toward circular and sustainable systems, yet a gap remains between policy ambitions and practical implementation. This study performs a systematic literature review combining bibliometric and thematic analyses to examine the evolution and structure of research on circular textiles. The findings are synthesized into a research agenda structured around five key areas: (i) product lifecycle management, (ii) assessment methods and performance indicators, (iii) value chain and business model management, (iv) technological boost and innovation and finally (v) policy and implications. Across these areas, eleven research avenues are identified to address major gaps. Overall, the paper provides a conceptual foundation to support scholars in advancing research aligned with industrial needs and policy regulations, fostering the effective transition toward circular textile systems.
