This paper focuses on the study of social networks as a resource for communication and tourism promotion through the case of music festivals on Facebook (FB). Following a qualitative approach, the discourses of a selection of FB pages about Spanish festivals were analyzed, emphasizing (im)politeness as main feature. Results suggest that the use of social network in tourism facilitates the use of colloquial language, thus creating some paradoxical effects in the promotional speech immersed in the ‘conversation society’.
