Studying a foreign language doesn't always mean learning it. Starting from this, the book explores the operating space available for teachers who know that language teaching has to come to terms with learnability first - a concept whose crucial factors are defined in chapter 1. In the following chapters, this "operating space" is presented with reference to three main pivotal tools in Language teaching, namely manipulating the input, handling the output, treating the error.
