This work examines the corrosion behavior of a Ti-6Al-4V which has been electrochemically oxidated in different conditions. The thickness electrochemical anodization of titanium alloys in H3PO4 is interesting for from the viewpoint of surface finishing of devices for application in the human body (in particular hip and knee joints). With this technique it is possible to obtain a significant decrease in the release of metallic ions (titanium and above all aluminum and vanadium), decreasing the risks of local irritation or longterm sensitization, due to diffusion of metallic ions in the surrounding tissues.

Abstract
This work examines the corrosion behavior of a Ti-6Al-4V which has been electrochemically oxidated in different conditions. The thickness electrochemical anodization of titanium alloys in H3PO4 is interesting for from the viewpoint of surface finishing of devices for application in the human body (in particular hip and knee joints). With this technique it is possible to obtain a significant decrease in the release of metallic ions (titanium and above all aluminum and vanadium), decreasing the risks of local irritation or longterm sensitization, due to diffusion of metallic ions in the surrounding tissues.Pubblicazioni consigliate
