Latin has a rich temporal subordination system, which is interesting with regards to both verb strategies and conjunctions. Reference grammars and some specific studies mainly discuss morphosyntactic issues about the verb (tense and mood) of temporal subordinates, while temporal items (adverbs or conjunctions) are less considered. This paper deals with some of these items (dum, tum, and related forms), in order to cast further light their usage between syntax and pragmatics and their paths of diachronic development.

Abstract
Latin has a rich temporal subordination system, which is interesting with regards to both verb strategies and conjunctions. Reference grammars and some specific studies mainly discuss morphosyntactic issues about the verb (tense and mood) of temporal subordinates, while temporal items (adverbs or conjunctions) are less considered. This paper deals with some of these items (dum, tum, and related forms), in order to cast further light their usage between syntax and pragmatics and their paths of diachronic development.File allegato/i alla scheda:
