L'immaginario della bambola: il simulacro e la moda

This essay intends to investigate the originally reassuring, intimate and familiar value of the ‘fashionable doll’. In this view, besides an essential historique on the doll in relation to fashion, and therefore on a subject becoming little by little more and more similar to the human being, the paper is aimed to focus on the radically ideological result assumed by the toy at the age of its technical reproducibility in Art and Literature, especially in the French one. This essay, which has availed itself of a wide bibliography and of the most recent critical debate on the artistic and literary simulacra, is an essential introduction to the author’s current research on the value of the doll as an absolute and destabilizing other from the Twentieth-century avant-gardes to nowadays.
