One of the main UNESCO's goals is to promote equitable access to information, knowledge and data for all of citizens, including those who have special educational needs. In order to build a more inclusive Information Society, new pedagogical approaches and appropriate technologies must be developed. Following this intention, UNESCO IITE has developed the Specialized Training Course "ICTs in Education for People with Special Needs", devoted to the issues of general and specific ICT applications in education for a wide range of people with disabilities, as well as to the policy development in this sphere.
