The aknowledgement of a social and historical value for a minor element, such as the parapet, in the system of the Venetian Fortress of Bergamo, has led to its inclusion in the scheduled mantenaince plan of the Walls. These elements, in fact, are the document of the progressive transformation of the walls from a military defense system to a public landmark and leisure structure. The target of this research is the elaboration of the parapets preservation plan. The problems posed by the maintenance of these elements have been analyzed starting from the study of a limited part of the Walls between S. Grata Platform and S. Giovanni Bastion, taken as a case study for the elaboration of synthetic intervention guidelines to follow in the future works. Because of the lack of an accurate survey, it was necessary to proceed with a photographic campaign to document the current situation before the next maintenance interventions; the photographic shots were also used to construct a light 3D model of the inner facade of the parapet, useful, later for mapping the issues and the necessary related preservation operations. The graphical identification of the issues was accompanied by depth study sheets about the intervention techniques and the materials to be used in case of replacement, in contrast to the demolition and reconstruction of the entire parapet sections executed in the past. The documents produced allowed to define the parapets preservation guidelines through the direct comparison with the material consistency of the element.
