This monographic issue aims to refer to a broad current debate about the interactions between gender and violence and to analize, from a gender perspective, different forms of political, social, cultural and sexual discrimination. The essays recollected come from young and senior scholars, belonging to a variety of disclipinary backgrounds (history, linguistic, political sociology et al.), as, we believe, this complex topic necessarily requires an interdiciplinary approach. The overall work cover a broad time period, from the end of the XIX century to the end of the XX century. Several country case studies will be analyzed, with a special (though not unique) attention to Latin America, a place in which the current situation provides us with alarming rates of homofobia and the extreme practice of feminicidios or -such as the case of Mexico. Our final goal, as reasearchers but also as active citizens, is to revitilize a rich and potentally fruitful dialogue between different human science disciplines in order to contribute to fully understand the complex mechanisms that lie behind present and past exercise of gendered violence and subordination.

Abstract
Our final goal, as reasearchers but also as active citizens, is to revitilize a rich and potentally fruitful dialogue between different human science disciplines in order to contribute to fully understand the complex mechanisms that lie behind present and past exercise of gendered violence and subordination.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
