The article provides some insights into academic knowledge mediation in Italy, with examples drawn from transcripts of lectures which are part of the euroWiss-corpus. As outlined within the euro-Wiss-Project the common format of teaching at Italian universities is characterised by monological style, due to the importance given to transfer and consolidation of canonised knowledge in the Italian academic culture. From a linguistic point of view this kind of knowledge mediation can be described as a concatenation of different speech actions. However, in the case of German Studies, Linguistics and Translation, lessons show greater involvement of students. The paper illustrates examples of this teaching-learning-discourse in German studies (Language and Translation, Literature) with special focus on speech actions and the linguistic resources employed in order to support knowledge mediation and processing.

Abstract
The article provides some insights into academic knowledge mediation in Italy, with examples drawn from transcripts of lectures which are part of the euroWiss-corpus. As outlined within the euro-Wiss-Project the common format of teaching at Italian universities is characterised by monological style, due to the importance given to transfer and consolidation of canonised knowledge in the Italian academic culture. From a linguistic point of view this kind of knowledge mediation can be described as a concatenation of different speech actions. However, in the case of German Studies, Linguistics and Translation, lessons show greater involvement of students. The paper illustrates examples of this teaching-learning-discourse in German studies (Language and Translation, Literature) with special focus on speech actions and the linguistic resources employed in order to support knowledge mediation and processing.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
