Abstract

In the last two decades, translation studies have also focused on translating medieval literary texts, an issue Molinari had already been interested in and substantially contributed to since the 1980s. Taking up the salient points of the discussion initiated by Molinari, the present paper will address the problems of the translation of a medieval text whose literariness is also manifested through linguistic choices, which are apparently easy to respect in a Romance language such as Italian, but which prove how tricky and deceitful the idea of translation as a narrowly linguistic or textual phenomenon can be.
