Although a vast array of research regarding EM exists, there is no clarity as to its operationalization (Kuratko, 2020). According to Daspit and colleagues (2021) EM studies rely on either a qualitative methodology—in which EM is defined using varied conceptualizations, or a survey-based methodology, which also lacks measurement consistency. Even though there are available EM scales (De Hoyos-Ruperto et al., 2017; Lindberg & colleagues, 2017) not relying on valid or commonly used measures inhibits efforts to extrapolate insights. From an exploratory perspective, the objective of this study is to contribute with a proposal of a valid and reliable scale to measure EM, taking as the starting point Daspit and colleague’s (2021) EM definition.
