The essay aims to illustrate how the «territory and development» connection constitutes the basis for experimenting innovative university research and education methods, aimed at consolidating high specialization in Africa in the context of inter-university partnerships, as devices for territorial development. It is possible to propose geographical theoretical-methodological approaches and technical-applicative tools which, based on «collaborative learning» practices, allow university innovation to be expanded from the sole use of digital and smart systems to the experimentation of interactive methods (project works, living labs, laboratories ecc.) and field activities (itinerant excursions, land surveys, workshops ecc.) with the implication of institutions, stockholders and stakeholders acting in specific territorial contexts. This approach proposes to mutually strenghten the scientific and didactic capabilities of the cooperating universities, first of all, by integrating territorial de visu methods and tools, aimed at bypassing the impasse of the digital divide; secondly, by presenting universities as laboratories of territorial innovation and social cohesion, that can encourage the inclusion of different stakeholders and inhabitants through concrete case studies; thirdly, drawing on the cultural, environmental, socio-economic, and relational resources of territory, as a basis for trying to trigger sustainable development processes. Collaborative learning is being tested at the University of Bergamo designing European research and education projects, such as the Erasmus+ Capacity Building In Higher Education, through partnerships between European and African universities, with the involvement of institutions and private partners in order to build professional figures with territorial analysis and planning skills to support international development cooperation projects.
Il contributo ha l’obiettivo di illustrare come il nesso «territorio e sviluppo» costituisca la base per sperimentare innovativi metodi di ricerca e formazione universitaria integrata, volti a consolidare l’alta specializzazione nei contesti africani nell’ambito di partenariati interuniversitari, come dispositivi di sviluppo territoriale. Si tratta di un ambito nel quale prospettare approcci teorico-metodologici e strumenti tecnico-applicativi geografici che, avvalendosi di forme di apprendimento collaborativo, permettono di allargare l’innovazione universitaria dalla sola fruizione di sistemi digitali e smart, alla sperimentazione di attività interattive (project work, living lab, laboratori ecc.) e di terreno (escursioni itineranti, rilievi sul campo, workshop ecc.) con l’implicazione di istituzioni, stockholder e stakeholder che agiscono in specifici contesti territoriali. Tale approccio propone di rafforzare reciprocamente le capacità scientifiche e formative delle università cooperanti, innanzitutto, integrando metodi e strumenti de visu, volti a bypassare l’empasse del digital divide; in secondo luogo, prospettando le università come laboratori di innovazione territoriale e di coesione sociale che possono favorire l’inclusione di diversi portatori di interesse e abitanti tramite casi di studio concreti; in terzo luogo, attingendo alle risorse culturali, ambientali, socio-economiche e relazionali del territorio quale base di partenza per tentare di innescare processi di sviluppo in chiave sostenibile. I metodi di collaborative learning sono in corso di sperimentazione presso l’Università degli studi di Bergamo ideando progetti europei che integrano ricerca e didattica, come gli Erasmus+ Capacity Building In Higher Education, mediante partenariati tra università europee e africane con l’implicazione di istituzioni, partners privati e società civile per costruire figure professionali con competenze di analisi e progettazione territoriale a supporto dei progetti di cooperazione internazionale allo sviluppo.
