"Tristan" by Gottfried von Straßburg exhibits a rich array of formal and semantic elements that challenge the boundaries of translatability and invite ongoing critical reflection. Drawing on a series of translation experiences, this study explores the role these elements play in the delicate balance between textual layers, as well as in the dialogue between the translated text and its paratextual components.
