Dopo la teoria. Sulla poesia lirica = After Theory: On Lyric Poetry

Taking as its starting point the new edition of Enrico Testa’s Il libro di poesia (2025), this essay discusses the effects and new directions of research that the perspective and method of that work had already opened up in 1983––and which today prove particularly effective, heuristic even, for addressing the problems of theory, poetics, and style at the centre of the contemporary lyric turn. Through a close engagement with the principal theories that from the 1980s to the present have interrogated the aesthetic and methodological foundations of the lyric genre, I focus on the notion of the book as an aesthetic-material object, examining the critical questions and methodological obstacles that such a perspective entails when we approach poetry through the inexhaustible conflict between the one and the many: between the paradigmatic unity of the lyric and its subsequent syntagmatic reconfiguration in the book-form

Prendendo le mosse dalla nuova edizione del Libro di poesia (2025) di Enrico Testa, in questo saggio discuto gli effetti e le nuove direzioni di ricerca che la prospettiva e il metodo di quel lavoro avevano già dischiuso nel 1983, e che oggi risultano particolarmente efficaci (per non dire euristici) per affrontare i problemi di teoria, poetica e stile che sono al centro del lyric turn contemporaneo. In particolare, attraverso un confronto con le principali teorie che dagli anni Ottanta a oggi hanno interrogato i fondamenti estetici e metodologici del genere lirico, mi soffermerò sulla nozione di libro come oggetto estetico-materiale, affrontando questioni (critiche) e ostacoli (metodologici) che una lettura di questo tipo comporta quando ci rapportiamo alla poesia attraverso l’inesauribile conflitto tra l’uno e il molteplice: tra l’unità paradigmatica della lirica (il testo, preso nella sua singolarità) e la sua successiva riconfigurazione sintagmatica nella forma-libro
